FIT and 50

So here it goes world, I’m 50 years old! For those you who really know me, know that I never, EVER, talk about my age. The standing joke in my family is that I turn 32 every single year and have obviously done so for quite some time! Hahaha. You see, to me age is just a number that really doesn’t matter. Age is just a number that dictates how long we have been alive, but to me its no more than that. I truly feel that as long as you can eat clean, workout daily, take care of your skin and create a routine to deal with the daily stresses in this fast-paced society we live in, you can ALWAYS look and feel young for a very, very long time.

This is the single reason my wife and I have dedicated our lives to helping others learn to live a long, healthy and happy lifestyle. I am very competitive and my goal I set was to look and feel as good at 50 as I did when I was 25. To accomplish this, I knew I had to create a lifestyle that would allow my physical body to stay young as my numeric body got older. Here is what I want everyone out there to know, ITS NOT AS HARD AS IT SEEMS!

I’m all about mindset. I believe if you have a direction and you know what needs to get done, JUST DO IT! Nike made millions off this phrase, but it is so, so true. If I could do one thing for those of you reading my blog today. Start changing your thought process today and JUST DO IT!

So, what do I do to stay fit at 50. Its all about living and being healthy each and every day. Doing little things here and there that really make a big difference. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, when you snack go for healthy snacks like lean protein, fruits and veggies instead of processed fattening foods, using sunscreen and protective lotions when in the sun and spending time daily learning how to breath and cope with the stresses that each day can bring to us.

When I set my goals for my 50th birthday, I just changed my thought process and said I am going to do anything and everything I can to live the healthiest life I possible can. I have the most amazing wife and three of the most incredible children anyone could ever have and wish for and I want to do anything I can to make sure that lasts for a very long time. I feel I owe it to them and to myself. So, I just woke up the next morning and began a lifestyle of health and wellness and never looked back from there.
Guess what, everyone can do this. Its not hard, its not expensive, its just a simple change in your priorities and thoughts. Wake up tomorrow and decide to eat healthy, exercise daily, take care of your skin and reduce your stress. I am telling you its that simple. Get up a little earlier each morning and plan your day. What will you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. What healthy snacks will you eat when you want to curb your appetite. When will you exercise during the day and what things you can do differently during the day that will increase your physical activity. Have fun with it. You can even lunge in Rockefeller Square, hahaha. This whole process should always be fun. Do little things that may be strange to others but fun for you. The other day I was playing with my son Legend, and while I was holding him I decided I would do 3 sets of 20 squats. I do little things like that daily. Its fun and I am burning calories at the same time.

Make sure you treat your skin like you would treat your baby’s skin. Keep it protected every second you are in the sun and keep it hydrated daily. Ok, so no judging me, I also do weekly face masks with my wife. We have a blast doing them. We take dorky pictures, laugh as our skin tightens up, but the end result, is a healthy and clean looking face. Skin appearance is a big step in looking and feeling younger. Finally, do not let the daily grind of stress and life ruin all the things you are doing to stay fit and healthy. The world will try to beat you down at times and there are certainly enough distractions out there to do so. Life will always test us and there will always be stressors out there. That will never ever change. Its how we deal with them that defines the effects if has on our body. Learn to know when its time to step away and destress. When you feel the world pushing you from every corner, remove yourself from it and find your happy place. Mine is my family and exercise. If I feel that the daily grind is too much at any given time, I know that for me to stay healthy and happy I need to remove myself from it immediately and I do. Go on a walk, call up your significant other and have a great conversation about something fun you can do the upcoming weekend, sit in a quiet place and just slow down your breathing and relax. Just do something that alters the stress and puts you in the right place in your mind.

Remember focus on you! Change your thought process and become a healthier version of you. JUST DO IT! There is so much more you can accomplish and some many more positive things you can do when you feel and look fit. I did it and I certainly know you can to. Have fun with it, enjoy it and live it!!!
