Get back on track, it only takes a second!

I’m sitting here reminiscing about one of the most amazing days I have ever had, and it was not even for me it was for my wife, Jade. I wanted to do something special for her for on her birthday, to thank her for being the most amazing wife and mommy on the planet. So last Friday, I planned a day trip to New York City that started at 4am and was loaded with tons of shopping and incredible food. It was simply one of the most special days of my life.

We shopped, laughed, took a ton of dorky pictures and ate at some of our favorite spots. It was perfect! But I knew when we first woke up that morning one question was going to go through both of our heads. HOW ARE WE GOING TO GET OUR WORKOUT IN TODAY? Yes, trust me this is exactly what was on both of our minds when we woke up for one of the best days ever. Do we wake up 2 hours earlier than planned (leaving us with 4 hours of sleep) just to get a workout in? Or do we say screw it and just make sure our workout the next day is killer. Of course, these thoughts crossed our mind, because its our first priority. To us, fitness & nutrition is a 24/7 lifestyle.

Welcome to the life of Jade and Steve, Haha. See our lives revolve around health living. Daily exercise and eating lean and clean is at the forefront of our daily routine. So, a day filled with no exercise and tons of food that is far from lean and clean is off the beaten path for both of us. But that is what makes those days so great. We work hard to better our health every possible day that we can so when we have a day filled of little physical activity and tons of unhealthy food, we can feel like we deserve it.
This life is what makes a day trip to NYC with my wife so amazing and fun. As we were shopping and feeding our bellies with tons of not so healthy food, both of us were looking around to see if we could do lunges in Rockefeller square or go up and down 10 more flights of stairs to burn off a few more calories. We were both cracking up at each other over our never-ending goal to stay healthy. This is what makes living every day with my wife so incredible. We love a healthy lifestyle, but we can take a cheat day and make it the best and funniest day ever!

When we woke up the next morning with shopping bags, full tummies and sore feet our only focus was how to get right back on track with our health and wellness plan. We laughed about the day before and realized how incredibly special and fun it was, but it only took us a second to shift our focus back to healthy eating and exercise. Which only made our workout that day even better! We felt we deserved a day off, not worrying about the nutrition of the food we were eating.. but the next day we also felt like we had to burn off every bad calorie we put into our bodies. Our daily strive to stay healthy is what made that day even better. Its almost like we were doing something illegal. We always look forward to our cheat day, this just happened to be ONE of a KIND!

I love my wife and I love my life, and a large part of that is our healthy lifestyle and how we live each day. Take your cheat day, but make sure when you do, you get right back on track! It truly only takes a second to do it!
