I was sitting talking to my wife Jade the other day and it dawned on me that I never talk about chiropractic and what I do much outside the office. So, guess what, today is the day for me to unleash the hounds! Haha
As an athlete all my life I have had a ton of injuries, falls, mishaps, you name it! From doing crazy acrobatics on homemade sleds on the water, to jumping off cornices atop some of the highest peaks in Tahoe, to playing football for one of the best teams in northern California, it’s been extremely brutal on my body. The one thing I missed out on through all of this was seeing a chiropractor routinely to keep my body in PEAK condition at all times.
See, I spent most of my early years planning on going to dental school and becoming an orthodontist. I know right, so not the job for me, at least for those who really know me. I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Florida, GO GATORS, for dentistry and was accepted to 5 dental schools. I fell in love with Boston University and was all set to start. Then one day, a few days before classes were to start I had this gut feeling that this was not my future. There was something else that I was supposed to be doing. So, I headed back down to Florida and was contemplating going to Medical School. I moved in with 2 Neurosurgical residents, registered for a few postgraduate classes and took a part time job.
One day at work the lady I was working for said why don’t you become a chiropractor. My response was a direct “what the heck is a chiropractor?” I know crazy right? I had no idea what a chiropractor was or did. I grew up in the world like a lot of us, just covering up the pain, and having no idea that if I kept up with my small injuries and maintained my body through all my “sporting incidents” I would feel way better and perform at a much more elite level.
A few weeks later I headed up to Life University of Chiropractic to learn more about the profession and see if it was for me. Four years later I had my Doctorate and was well on my way and I never looked back. If I could design my own career path this is it. I get to help people daily live a better more pain- free lifestyle. I have seen so many people with no hope, frustrated and in pain daily and within days and weeks they are doing things they thought were never, ever going to be part of their daily life ever again.
My goal with every single patient is to find out their “why”, their needs, not mine and then to create a program to help them achieve whatever it is they are wanting and more. My goal is to help them safely and effectively get to the” finish line” so they can live a “pain-free” lifestyle and not live in doctors’ offices for the rest of their lives.
I walk into work most days wishing I had a chiropractor earlier in my life to help me stay at an elite status as I was pushing every envelope of the sports world. There are so many things that occur to us daily from sports injuries to bad daily habits, which I have already talked about in past blogs, that take a toll on our bodies and after years and years of getting beat up our body breaks down. TRUST ME, I know this very well. That’s why my passion is to help others achieve a healthy and pain-free lifestyle and learn ways to practice this on a daily basis so that you’re not seeing me too much! Yes, my goal is to keep you out of my office weekly! Crazy right, no not at all. Maintenance is okay but having to be in my office weekly means I am not doing my job. My goal is to have you pain-free or very close to it, enjoying life and giving you an opportunity to share your story with others. I just want to help as many people as possible live a happier, healthier and painless life.
Chiropractic is my passion, it is what I do and breath every single day. It may not be something that I talk about constantly outside the office, but it is what Jade and I live and breath daily. I am so blessed to be a chiropractor and have to opportunity to help so many of you enjoy a better quality of life!
