First and foremost, I hope everyone out there took or at least planned their Holiday! You know I did and I cannot wait to spend eight amazing days with my family disconnected completely from the WORK world. Don’t worry you will all survive, HA HA.
Alright, now time to get to some serious business. I know, come on, the serious stuff! Yes, just briefly. This has been eating at me for some time. How many of you daily walk around and see people starring down at their phone, or more importantly you are doing it now as you read my blog. Got you!
This has become an epidemic and is currently changing our bodies in extremely adverse ways. By increasing the hours our head is looking down, we are changing the normal biomechanics, the normal curves and movements of our spine, in a way that is promoting early degenerative changes and even physical appearance.
Blah, blah, blah…..I know this sounds boring and yes very nagging, but seriously you want to listen to this. If you do not start bringing your world up, I mean looking at all these evil technologies with a level head, you will fall into the world of Extreme Forward Head Posture and suffer like many people already are with the never-ending complaints associated with it.
Funny story, I was rushing to grab coffee one morning in Celebration, Fl and on my way, I see one of my patients headed toward my office for an appointment. He is starring straight down at his phone texting and was one step away from falling face first into the lake in the center of town. Luckily, I yelled out his name, he abruptly looked up and I caught him just before he took his last step. We laughed for a second, but then I realized why he was coming to my office, he suffers from chronic neck pain. Hmmm, what do you think is causing this?
Guess what, I have the answer and by doing this one simple thing you will reduce the number of visits to my office and feel so much better in the process. Yes, I know why the heck would I want to decrease the number of visits to my office? Simple, my blog is to educate you and to empower you to live a smarter and healthier lifestyle.
So, are you ready for the answer? LOOK UP MORE!!! What, seriously, that’s it? Yes, it’s that simple. Just change the angle of how you use these technologies, so your head is always looking straight, and level and you are well on your way! Don’t you just love things that are that easy? I sure do!!! It’s not going to change everything overnight, but if you decrease the hours looking down and bring your world up daily, you will make serious strives in reducing and reversing the effects of forward head posture and assuring yourself of not being that guy dressed in a nice suit, face first in a lake, in the center of your town!
